This FREE event in collaboration with Museum of History, Benicia will share the exciting story of how tiles by famous ceramic tile muralist, and former Benicia resident, Guillermo Wagner Granizo, came to be embedded in our First St. sidewalks. The Museum will be displaying a special exhibit of Granizo tiles and there will be a special presentation at 2pm featuring Ron Wagner, the artist's son, offering a unique personal perspective on Granizo's life and work.
Following this, former Benicia Mayor Jerry Hayes will share fascinating details about the intricate process of getting the tiles installed back in 1987. Dr. Kerry K. Carney will also discuss her research on Granizo and his tiles and provide a preview of an upcoming semi-guided tour of the First Street tiles, scheduled for Saturday, August 16, from 1 PM to 3 PM.
RSVP NOT REQUIRED BUT APPRECIATED!
